Due to the forecast from the weather service, we are sending out this alert to remind people of a few important steps to keep pipes from freezing.
1. Locate and mark your meter box. Cover the box with a square of hay or a tub. Check your lid to make sure it is on and not damaged. If damaged, call 667-3466 and report the issue so a service tech and repair it before the weather turns bad. Marking the location also helps in finding the box if covered in snow. Do Not scrape the snow off the box. It works as an insulator when the temperature drops very low.
2.Open a faucet to a steady slow drip the furtherest distance from where the water enters your residence. A slow drip and not a steady stream is recommended.
3. If you find yourself without water, Do Not apply direct flame to anything. Especially the meter box area. Direct flame, no matter how small, can damage the equipment very easily. If the conditions allow, we can check the meter to see if it is froze or if the problem is in your pipes.
If conditions are undrivable and dangerous to our sevice techs, it may be many hours before we can reach the problem. We will be on call throughtout the weekend and will try everything within our means to help.
Emergency calls can be made to: 479-667-3466, 479-209-2259, 479-209-7331
Be safe and prepared and we will get through this weather event.
